Meet the team

White Ann
Ann White

Director of LEARN

I have worked in the education sector since 1988. My journey began as a Teaching Assistant in a residential school for children with emotional, social and behavioural difficulties.

In 1999 I moved to Ambergate Sports College where my desire and passion to help children with additional needs continued to develop. I went on to study at Bishop Grosseteste/Leicester University achieving a BA (Hons) degree in Education.  Despite taking three years this further inspired me to go on and gain Qualified Teacher Status.  I thoroughly enjoyed my teaching days working with such amazing children, young people and staff, of whom I admire and truly respect.

I feel very privileged to have had the opportunity to work as Principal in Charge of Schools and previous to that, Principal for Safeguarding and Pastoral Care across Grantham Additional Needs Fellowship.

In September 2016 I joined Lincolnshire Education and Research Network (LEARN) Teaching School Alliance.  My role as Director of LEARN is one of excitement and challenge as the Teaching School rapidly grows from strength to strength.

I am also very lucky to be Human Resource Lead for Community Inclusive Trust, which enables me to visit and share good practice with other schools across C.I.T.

Claire B
Claire Buffham

Director of Education

I am Director of Education at the Community Inclusive Trust and as part of my role I set up and am responsible for the Lincolnshire Education and Research Network Teaching School Alliance (LEARN).
My vision for LEARN is to create a central hub to meet the SEN needs of all Lincolnshire schools.

My other passion is coaching and I am an ICF registered coach. We have set leadership coaching programs but I am always happy to talk through any bespoke coaching needs.

Prior to becoming Director of Education I was Senior Principal at Sandon School and have worked within the SEN sector since 2001, prior to this I was a mainstream teacher.

Jayne Carter

Enterprise and Development Leader

I was thrilled to be asked to join LEARN this year as I believe in their passion and dedication to ensure all children are supported to achieve their very best.

I have previously led Elite TSA in Bourne and bring a wealth of experience of the exciting world of sector led support.

I am also an independent Education Consultant, supporting practitioners in Early Years and Primary in improving their own pedagogy and teaching.

I currently lead several research projects which have enabled me to remain in the classroom which has given me a fantastic insight to the every changing educational priorities.

LEARN Teaching School Alliance is a new teaching school having gained accreditation in Sept 2015.

Two outstanding special schools; Sandon School and Ambergate Sports College lead the teaching school. Working alongside and in collaboration with the other teaching schools within Lincolnshire we will develop the following areas (known as The Big Six):

  1. Training new entrants to the profession
  2. Leading professional development
  3. Developing leadership potential
  4. Providing support to other schools
  5. Designating and deploying Specialist Leaders of Education.
  6. Engaging in research and development

LEARN specialises in all areas of Special Educational Needs and as such our aim is to support all schools to ensure that all pupils within Lincolnshire who have SEN receive an outstanding education
